Proper nounSingular Internet Plural - Internet
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private and public, academic, business, and government networks of local to global scope that are linked by a broad array of electronic and optical networking technologies. The Internet carries a vast array of information resources and services, most notably the inter-linked hypertext documents of the World Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to support electronic mail. Most traditional communications media, such as telephone and television services, are reshaped or redefined using the technologies of the Internet, giving rise to services such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and IPTV. Newspaper publishing has been reshaped into Web sites, blogging, and web feeds. The Internet has enabled or accelerated the creation of new forms of human interactions through instant messaging, Internet forums, and social networking sites. The origins of the Internet reach back to the 1960s when the United States funded research projects of its military agencies to build robust, fault-tolerant and distributed computer networks. This research and a period of civilian funding of a new U.S. backbone by the National Science Foundation spawned worldwide participation in the development of new networking technologies and led to the commercialization of an international network in the mid 1990s, and resulted in the following popularization of countless applications in virtually every aspect of modern human life. As of 2009, an estimated quarter of Earth's population uses the services of the Internet. The Internet has no centralized governance in either technological implementation or policies for access and usage; each constituent network sets its own standards. Only the overreaching definitions of the two principal name spaces in the Internet, the Internet Protocol address space and the Domain Name System, are directed by a maintainer organization, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The technical underpinning and standardization of the core protocols (IPv4 and IPv6) is an activity of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), a non-profit organization of loosely-affiliated international participants that anyone may associate with by contributing technical expertise. How close can we go with an opposite sex having internet friendship? What is the difference of dating in real person and internet dating? Why do we feel close with internet friends more than anything else and feel like meeting him / her again and again in person? Asked by aramaiya - Tue Jun 12 18:21:56 2007 - - 3 Answers - 2 Comments A. I think people move in relationships faster online because there is no fear of not being able to say what you actually feel, and you are able to openly express yourself. Also so many people change themselves online to have a personality that you would like, and those people find out little things about you and incorporate it into who they "are" to make you like them more. And the fact that you can either lie about your personality is scary, because what if you do meet the person? And then you may never know who you can trust and may not meet real friendly people. My advise is that less people should indulge on online relationships and stick with friendship. :) have a fantastic day and watch out for online predators ! First you have to share the broadband connection, to do that you have to go to the properties of My Networking Places, then go to the properties of the dial up which connects broadband, go to the Advance tab and click on share. After sharing your LAN card address will autometically assign to 192.168.0.1, when ask for that click on yes. Now go to the second PC. Then properties of My networking places then propoerties of Local area connection double click on "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)" asgine IP Address=192.168.0.2 Subnet Mask= 255.255.255.0 Gateway=192.168.0.1 DNS= 192.168.0.1 And you are done. Q. I want to get a blackberry and i was planning on getting it off ebay and activating it at home but my internet is blocked on my current phone. When i activate the blackberry will it still require me to have internet even when the internet is already blocked. My carrier is verizon. Asked by Darby - Tue Jul 21 22:30:06 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Verizon requires you to add a blackberry feature if you want to activate a blackberry device. This feature starts at $29.99 per month. As an aside, you have to contact Verizon to switch your service from your current phone to the blackberry. They'll need the ESN number from the phone during the activation process. Answered by Fiat Slug - Tue Jul 21 22:37:00 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Internet" Quotations about the Internet Sourced
