A mailing list is a collection of names and addresses used by an individual or an organization to send material to multiple recipients. The term is often extended to include the people subscribed to such a list, so the group of subscribers is referred to as "the mailing list", or simply "the list". Types of mailing listsAt least two types of mailing lists can be defined: an announcement list is closer to the original sense, where a "mailing list" of people was used as a recipient for newsletters, periodicals or advertising. Traditionally this was done through the postal system, but with the rise of email, the electronic mailing list became popular. The second type allows members to post their own items which are broadcast to all of the other mailing list members. This second category is usually known as a discussion list. I read this article by this guy who said he got $15000 in between 20-50 days by sending six letters out with a dollar in each of them with this list or whatever with these six people on it or something and I add my name to the list and soon I will have tons of cash coming in through the mail and it's perfectly legal because it is a service and you are paying willing participants. It also said something about posting the message on online message boards. Asked by C-Lay "L" - Thu Aug 10 21:21:02 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I did the same kind of thing about 7 years ago. If you are in the UK then it is wrong, and a breach of the Data Protection Act - unless you get the express prior consent of all of the people whose details you are passing on. Answered by Daniel Owen - Tue Jan 13 06:14:43 2009 When applying for a job, should I email my resume if it lists a mailing address?
Q. There's this job I would love, and it says to apply to yada yada address, and then it lists an email address and fax number. Can I just email my resume instead of mailing it? I've always emailed instead of mailed (even when a mailing address was listed) with other jobs (which seemed fine), but I just want to doublecheck because this one's extra important to me. However, since it's a lot easier to email than to mail it, remember that your resume may be lost with many others applying for the same job. Since snail mail could take a while, just print out a hard copy of your resume, a letter of application if it would help, and give it to them personally. Even if it's just the secretary or Human resources, it would show effort and willingness on your part.
