In software engineering, a web application or webapp is an application that is accessed via web browser over a network such as the Internet or an intranet. It is also a computer software application that is coded in a browser-supported language (such as HTML, JavaScript, Java, etc.) and reliant on a common web browser to render the application executable. Web applications are popular due to the ubiquity of web browsers, and the convenience of using a web browser as a client, sometimes called a thin client. The ability to update and maintain web applications without distributing and installing software on potentially thousands of client computers is a key reason for their popularity. Common web applications include webmail, online retail sales, online auctions, wikis and many other functions. From Wikipedia under the

Asked by Pudele J - Thu Apr 30 11:13:06 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments Is PHP used for making GUI web applications on websites? Q. Or is it used to write little scripts which in turn becomes a web application and is then CSS used to complete the graphical user interface of that little program? Please help! Thanks : ) Asked by hold_on_and_stay_strong - Tue Nov 11 08:51:33 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. HTML and CSS are the graphical user interface for any web page. PHP lets you program in information that changes every time, so your description of little scripts is closer. With PHP, you can write HTML that changes every time the page is loaded, or you can just insert different information into the HTML you've already written. Answered by GandalfDaGraay - Tue Nov 11 09:45:54 2008 How to warn users not to drag'n'drop local files while running a web applications?
Q. Some users might accidently drag and drop local files into a web browser while a web application is running on the same browser. When it happens, the browser, supposed to run the application, suddenly displaying the local file(s). Then user has to go back to the application page and do it again. How to send notification to the user that he is not supposed to drag'n'drop files while the app. is running? Could it be done using JavaScript? Please help! Albert Asked by Albert Kim - Sat Jun 23 04:14:52 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. You cannot do this using Javascript. You can capture drag drop events using javascript however javascript is a client side programming language and will function only if the page is loaded somewhere within the IE page. When a user browses websites, you javascript code cannot be called unless you have your code within the page they are browsing. My thoughts for this solution is windows mfc programming. You can get handle to any window using mfc programming and then control the behaviour of various events / items. Just a warning that this is very powerful and you should code your application to register and unregister events correctly. Hope that helps Answered by Abraham Alex - Mon Jun 25 19:05:03 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Web Applications"
