How can a network monitor my web surfing?
Q. At work when on web sites like banking, e mail, sports ect. how can a network monitor my web surfing. I mean I have personel information out there. Can my manager or anyone else see these? If I connect to a router on the road too like at e cafe where you can connect on the way to a client? How safe is my information?
Asked by Mike S - Mon Sep 7 19:09:19 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The answer is you do not own the network you use, so the owner is allowed to monitor that traffic as long as they give you fair warning. A network administrator is not interested in your traffic, but making sure you get from point a to point b, without any errors or congestion. A security guy is going to use third party software on the network that is configured to capture all your web surfing activitiy. If security has given permission to your Manager to view your information he might do so. Since this is the field I work, I would say 99% of the time, we don't care what you are surfing on the internet as long as it doesn't violate policy. You can rest assure your information is private, but know that "we're" watching. At an e cafe… [cont.]

Q. where can i get a job web surfing? been out of work and have a wife an 5 kids. We need money around here for bills, can anyone help with answering this ? times are getting hard around our house and i think ,i would be very good at web surfing.seen on the news that it pays good.

A. Those jobs are very hard to get and even then, they are not really just 'web surfing' and the pay is not as good as what you think it is. First of all, with all due respect, why aren't you applying for ANY JOB? From fast food to gas stations, to farming, etc.. Second, are you trained and/or being trained even more? Do you only know how to surf? Do you have any skills such as web design, programming, business, marketing, writing skills? There are tons of jobs for outsourcing writing, and data entry, etc. Last, you may consider even opening your own business, SURFING! For example (I hope you don't consider this spam), you could surf online for certain sites that seem to be ugly, not well designed, etc, and write a nice letter offering… [cont.]

A. You can set a silent sceme in the sounds in the control panel. Just use a non default that has no sounds. You can always go back and set it back.

Suggestions for a good, cheap desktop computer package for web surfing and word processing only?
Q. I'm interested in finding a very cheap desktop computer package (e.g. box, monitor, keyboard, mouse) for very basic computing, such as web surfing and word processing. No heavy gaming or memory-hogging apps like Photoshop, just very basic computing. I see that there are eMachine packages at Walmart and places like that for around $400... is this the best deal (or the average price) or are there better deals out there? I'd be interested in hearing suggestions. Thanks.
Asked by Rob - Sat Dec 2 15:03:03 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. emachine computers from walmart and such are good deals, except they are verys slow memory wise. I recomend that you look for a PC with 512 mb, not 128. I know that it is for basic surfing, but it is slow, and the price difference is not much. The rest of the computer doesn't matter but my advice is to not get 128 mb, go for 512

How to use memory card for web surfing for N73 ME?
Q. Hi, Does anyone know how to set the N73 ME to utilize the miniSD instead of using the phone memory when browsing the net via the phone? Reason is because I most of the time I get a memory full warning and it stops loading the web page. I have to restart the application. Thanks. Regards, Wilson.
Asked by Alouwz - Fri Jan 18 04:12:12 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. it can't be done, the N73 can't recognise external storage as system memory. the only thing you can do is transfer as much as possible from the phone to the card. you can save messages to the card instead of the phone and you can also transfer your contacts to your sim card, that will make a huge difference.

Q. I need laptop recommendations, preferrably along the following criteria: - I plan on taking notes and surfing the web - Portability > Screen Size - Budget up to $900 (the cheaper the better, of course) - I do not want to play games on this laptop Hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult for you laptop buffs to suggest the laptops that fit the three criteria. I look forward to your opinions!

Q. How do they block certain web sites?
Asked by Happy - Tue Jun 30 12:29:00 2009 - - 4 Answers - 1 Comments

A. There wireless access point or school computer has a web filter on it. The web filter will look for certain characteristic on the web page a computer is requesting. Then the web filter will decide to block it or not. Such options that a school could use is to block sites that have a social networking or proxy site characteristic, even if it shows a certain word (like "porn"), and/or have a manually set up.

When surfing the web my computer will play a brief audio clip, why does it do that?
Q. Sometimes will surfing the web and navigating from site to site, my computer will randomly play a brief 2-5 second (my guess) audio clip. The one I hear most often is "Your A Superstar". It sounds like Madonna singing the verse from her hit song Vogue. This occurs at times randomly as well when the computer is idle. I understand some banner ads when I run my mouse over them they make noises, but this is not the case. Any ideas what this is and more importantly how I can avoid it.

Would a netbook be good for web surfing and spreadsheet management?
Q. I am looking at some of the inexpensive netbooks, and trying to figure out if it is worth it. Here is what I need t to be able to do: Surf the net Use Y! Messenger Use basic spreadsheet program for home business Play some online games (pokerstars.net, yahoo games, etc) I know some of them don't use windows, but use a different OS (linux?). Would this be an issue with what I am wanting to do?
Asked by casino_bandit - Thu Nov 13 22:44:47 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Surfing and games, yes. Spreadsheets, no. The screen is too small and you'd have to magnify the spreadsheets quite a bit to work with them which would cause it to be very slow to work with them.

A. We are going through the exact same thing right now with 3 boys! I did some research to find software that would allow me to control what is allowed and what is blocked...and found Net Nanny to offer that for a decent price. Also, I found older versions of it selling for a lot less on places like Ebay and Amazon.
