From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A podcast is a series of digital media files (either audio or video) that are released episodically and downloaded through web syndication. The mode of delivery differentiates podcasting from other means of accessing media files over the Internet, such as direct download, or streamed webcasting. A list of all the audio or video files currently associated with a given series is maintained centrally on the distributor's server as a web feed, and the listener or viewer employs special client application software known as a podcatcher that can access this web feed, check it for updates, and download any new files in the series. This process can be automated so that new files are downloaded automatically. Files are stored locally on the user's computer or other device ready for offline use, giving simple and convenient access to episodic content. Commonly used audio file formats are Ogg Vorbis and MP3. Researchers at the Center for Journalism and Communication Research at the University of Texas at Austin in the USA are proposing a four-part definition of a podcast: A podcast is a digital audio or video file that is episodic; downloadable; programme-driven, mainly with a host and/or theme; and convenient, usually via an automated feed with computer software. GNU Free Documentation License How do I correct the sorting of my podcasts? Q. Hi all. I have a few podcasts that are duplicating headings. In iTunes I will see the 2 headings for the same podcasts with many episodes under each heading. However, these episodes are not duplicated. I called Apple and they tell me they think that there are problems with the ID tags for the individual files and this is causing the podcast episodes to be listed under more than one podcast heading. Q. I've had to transfer all of my files for my iPod onto another computer. So I transfered all of my iTunes library and files from the older computer to the newer one. Once that occurred I erased and synced everything and re subscribed to all of my podcasts. When everything was done loading onto the iPod, I checked on everything and all of the music and videos were in the iPod but the podcasts were not. What's going on exactly? Do I need to restore my iPod? Or do I have to go back to the older computer again and try to work out everyhting on that computer? Thanks in advance. Asked by Maggie - Mon Jul 16 02:18:24 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. the problem is that you restored your ipod, no? if all your music and podcasts were from itunes, then it should recover when itunes is opened on the new computer. if not, then you'll have to subscribe to the podcasts again, before doing all this, you should have just connected the ipod to the new computer and downloaded the songs from the ipod into your computer. in the future if you want to do this, just follow these steps: 1. Go to My Computer. 2. Click on the E drive, or whatever drive it shows your iPod on. 3. Click Tools on the toolbar, then Folder Options. 4. Go to the Second tab over. 5. Click on "show hidden files and folders". You should now see a folder called "iPod Control" in the iPod folder. 6.
